My first impressions of Canada were very good.
I researched a lot before my arrive: places, way of life, customs, etc. My flight arrived in Toronto in a beautiful Sunday morning and everything was in the way I imagined.Roy was the first person that I talked at CAC. He was very nice and kind.
I was feeling pleased with my level in English and everybody at CAC. Haniel helped me in my first day and Heather was so kind during my time at school.
I really enjoyed the quantity of activities organized by the school. It was a good chance to meet new people. Also my classmates and teachers were very nice.

When I came to Toronto, it was really cold. So, honestly, first impression wasn’t good because I don’t like cold weather, but now, I love Toronto. I have a lot of good friends. I also have good experience in Toronto. I learn lots of useful expressions. That makes me have more self-confidence. Every classes in Cornerstone are really useful. I can catch the meaning easily, and my teacher, Nathan, does not speak slowly but very naturally. I really like that. Because of him, my listening skill is a lot better than before.

My experience here is so amazing. I studied at CAC for 3 months and I could improve my English Skills. The teachers were very nice and the classes were comfortable. All the staff from CAC treated us as part of a family. That is the best part of CAC. Now, I finished my program here and I would like to continue study English more. I am going to stay in Canada and enjoy all the places here. My living here is not over yet ….

The school is relatively small, therefore has a familiar and cozy environment, the people who work here are prepared, thoughtful and always ready to help. There is a large cafeteria with several computers and WiFi available for students and here you can have contact and make friends with people from all over the world. My experience in Canada has been very important to me because I am in constant contact with the English language. With people from all over the world and knowing fantastic places that exist in this country, not to mention the nightlife is very busy and safe.

I’ve studied at CAC for 6months. It was such a long time to stay at the school, but I really enjoyed it especially counselors, teachers. They are amazing fantastic people. They are really kind and friendly. They always help me when I have problems. Also I made lots of friends in the school. I think that it is one of the best things at CAC. If I didn’t have friends, I couldn’t improve my English skills. It‘s easy to make a friend at CAC also, not only class mates, but also other class friends, other teachers using the CAC activities. It could was good for my English and for making friends.

I came CAC on November 23, 2015. I was very afraid because I can’t speak English. But lots of people and teachers are very friendly and kind. They help me a lot. I can experience a lot of activity in CAC. I can decorate the door, make the house with snack and try turkey and so on. But the most interesting and exciting one is activity class with Brad. We went Toronto University, Queen’s park, tried hockey, and rode the skateboard. I think CAC is very good place for the students and very exciting place!

When we have a Christmas vacation we went lots of place. We bought a city pass and visited famous place in Toronto. We went to Toronto Zoo, Ontario Science museum, shopping outlet mall, Toronto Art Gallery, CN Tower, Casaloma and Toronto Ontario Museum. But most interesting place is CN tower. I can see the Toronto Island and if the weather is good we can see Niagara falls. We can experience the glass floor too! Lots of people are take picture on the glass floor. I think there are lots of good place in Toronto. I want to visit another famous place in Toronto.

Cornerstone was beyond expectactions. My teacher is Brad. Brad always taught to me kindly and hard. On Friday, we did activity classes. We went to the park, played hockey game, skated in front of City Hall and so on.

My favourite activity class was skating. I can’t skate at all. But now I can skate a little bit. Inside of CAC is always clean and teachers are friendly.

I took 3 programs at CAC. My first month was the ESL class with level 5. It was a good choice for me. I needed time to fit in Canada and I had a chance to review and understand what I couldn’t understand in class. In my second month, I took TEYC class, which was interesting and a big experience for me. Before I came to Canada, I thought I wanted to something special at this school. I had never taught English for someone. I wasn’t a kindergarten teacher. In this class, I made a teaching plan for children. It was so hard, but also interesting. I thought about children every day. How can I teach them? What more can I do? If I didn’t take this course, I would never think about that. Especially, it was a wonderful opportunity which we went to school and teach them. This experience gave me a confidence. And in my last month, I took "Real Speaking" class and this class also gave me an amazing time. I could learn a lot of REAL English; How to speak real American’s or Canadians are. How wrong my pronunciations were. And real speed is very different. Sometime, I felt I couldn’t do, it’s too much for me. But, I could do that like my teacher said. Every moment when I felt difficult, this gave me another confidence, braveness, and power for me to continue staying in Toronto after my graduation. Then, I met a lot of amazing people at CAC. Every teacher, CAC staff and friends are wonderful. This is the most amazing experience and treasure at CAC for me. We got a time to know each other no matter what age, country, and gender. I don’t know how to explain those amazing days. This is my honest feeling.

Yuri Dias

Hello, my name is Yuri Dias. I´m 22 years old. I´m from Brazil, São Paulo. One of my dreams was to go abroad and study English. I was afraid because I thought I wouldn´t make it. When I arrived in Canada I couldn´t talk in English so much, because I already studied English in Brazil but my English was so rusty. I studied at Cornerstone Academic College for 6 months. My English really improved in this school. Some of the teachers were really awesome and others were in the average. The bests teacher in my opinion were Allison (always making the grammar easier), Fatima (always bringing challenging for the students), Morgan (talking about polemic topics and helping with our pronunciation) and Nathaniel (he really help the students to improve their listening and speaking skills; pronunciation of the words (–ed –th sounds and others ) lots of phrasal verbs that really help us to sounds more natural). These teachers know how to help their students with their personal difficult. I made many friends in Canada from different parts of the world and I learnt a lot about the differences and similarities about our culture. It really opened my mind about the different cultures. After that, some of my new friends are coming to Brazil this year to know my country and see me. I will really miss them all. My English improved a lot after this experience. It was an amazing fantastic wonderful experience. Thanks Cornerstone for helping me with this amazing experience.

When I came to Cornerstone, I started with level 3. On the first day, it was very difficult for me to catch up with the class, however, as time went by, I became better to understand. I always tried to ask the teachers soon after I had questions because there were so many words and phrases that I didn’t know. Every time I asked the teachers, they explained very well with easy English so that I could understand. I could study English with fun through playing the game or talking with other classmates as well as learning basic English grammars.
